– The Complex of Hue Monuments in Hue city, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue welcomed more than 1.06 million tourists, including over 650,000 foreigners, in the first five months of 2016.

The complex earned about 116.5 billion VND (5.18 million USD) from ticket sales, up 20.23 percent from the same period last year.

The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre, the complex’s operator, said it has offered visitors a wide range of ticket deals as part of the “golden week” promotional programme from April 22-28.

Ticket discounts were given to groups of students while free admission to the Tomb of King Thieu Tri and An Dinh Palace were offered to those purchasing a group entrance ticket to the Imperial City and the tombs of King Ming Mang and King Khai Dinh.

In addition, discounts of 10-30 percent were applied for entrance tickets to the royal Court Music concerts at Duyet Thi Duong Theatre and other services at the complex.

A number of exhibitions were organised during the period, including the exhibitions on UNESCO world documentary heritages found in Vietnam and on woodblocks and royal documents of the Nguyen Dynasty.

The ambience of the Nguyen Dynasty’s Queen Mothers was also showcased to the public with the wooden rickshaw that used to serve Queen Mother Tu Minh on display. The item was bought by the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre at an auction in France for 100,000 USD.

The centre plans to organise three more golden weeks to boost tourist arrivals from June 14-21, September 2-8 and December 24-30.-VNA
