Over 106 billion VND was raised for the Hanoi Fund for the Poor at a launching ceremony in the capital city on Nov. 8.

As part of activities in response to the Action Month for the Poor (Oct.17 – Nov. 18), the event was jointly organised by the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Hanoi chapter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Over the past 10 years, the Hanoi Fund for the Poor has received over 140 billion VND in aid. It helped poor households repair over 20,000 dilapidated houses, provided them with production equipment and medical check-up and assisted poor children in schooling.

In the first 10 months of this year, the fund donated 10 billion VND to 15,800 poor households and helped 19 needy children undergo heart surgeries worth 971 million VND.

At present, the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Hanoi chapter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front are helping in repairing 3,780 houses worth a total of 94.5 billion VND, of which 18.9 billion USD was contributed by the Hanoi Fund for the Poor./.
