More than 2,600 books worth nearly 100 million VND (4,800USD) will be transferred to the Song Tu Tay island of Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago late this month during an art exchange programme between the island and Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Tuoitrenews, the books published by many local publishers will be brought to the island as part of the programme to be held by the HCM City Department of Culture and Information and HTV from June 26 to July 4.

The department said that the books will be given towards the establishment of a library on the island district of central Khanh Hoa province.

On the occasion, the Quang Trung Software Park also donated two laptops worth VND21.9 million (US$1,053) to the library.

In addition, a photo book titled “Truong Sa trong Trai Tim Toi” (Spratly in my heart) has recently been released. The book boasts 105 pictures taken by local photo journalist Diep Duc Minh during his trips to the Spratly archipelago in January.-VNA
