Over 5 bln USD for transport infrastructure in Central Highlands
The Ministry of Transport has planned to invest over 115 trillion VND (5.17 billion USD) in developing transport infrastructure in the Tay Nguyen Central Highlands in the next five years.
Constructing a section of Ho Chi Minh Highway crossing Dak Nong province (Source: VNA)The investment capital will be used to construct and upgrade national roads and key provincial roads with high-travel demand, especially those connecting regional localities and linking the Central Highlands with the south central coastal region.
Under the detailed plan, 860 km of roads on the national routes 14C, 19, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 40B, and 55, and a 3.5-km section of Ho Chi Minh Highway crossing Buon Ma Thuot City will be upgraded with a total budget of over 18.3 trillion VND.
The ministry is also set to build the Dau Giay-Lien Khuong highway, and upgrade the Buon Ma Thuot airport in Dak Lak province and Lien Khuong airport in Lam Dong province in the period.
A railway will also be constructed, aiming to facilitate aluminium mining and production in the Central Highlands, and connect the region to seaports.
Meanwhile, 49.5 trillion VND will be spent on building and upgrading bridges, interprovincial roads and those in districts and communes.
According to Steering Committee, over 60.6 trillion VND (over 2.7 billion USD) was spent on transport infrastructure development in the region in 2010-2015, significantly contributing to the region’s socio-economic development.-VNA
