Most Vietnamese living in Ukraine’s eastern city of Donetsk have moved to safer areas to avoid spreading fighting.

The information was released by Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Donetsk province Trinh Van Tien during a phone interview with Vietnam News Agency’s correspondents in Eastern Europe.

Tien, who himself remains in Donetsk city, said just several Vietnamese stayed behind to take care of their properties, and they all gathered in buildings with underground shelters to protect themselves from artillery .

He said Ukraine Government’s troops have approached the city from three directions – the south, north and west, except for only the eastern side looking to Russia.

Speaking at a press briefing on August 4, Ukraine National Security and Defence Council spokesperson Andrey Lysenko said Ukrainian troops are going to attack Donetsk.-VNA
