Vietnam aims to improve its policies to engage the overseas Vietnamese (OV) community in the nation-building process, Vu Hong Nam, head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, has affirmed.

Nam held a meeting in Hanoi on September 28 with OV representatives who returned home to attend the eighth Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee.

The congress concluded successfully, reaching a consensus between Vietnamese people from all walks of life, both at home and abroad, on national unity, he stated.

Speaking on behalf of the delegates, Tran Ba Phuc, a Vietnamese national living in Australia, said the OV community is delighted at the National Assembly’s amendments to the Law on Vietnamese Nationality and believes in the Party and State’s policies.

He expressed his hope that the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs will organise more meetings and conferences in a bid to help overseas Vietnamese come together to discuss and voice their opinions.-VNA
