Vietnam Ambassador to Thailand Ngo Duc Thang presented more than 500 orders, medals and certificates of merit to Overseas Vietnamese (OV) in Northeast Thailand, who had contributed to national liberation, construction and defence.

Ambassador Thang said the event aimed to manifest the Party and Government’s recognition of the great achievements that OV had made to win the country’s independence and contribute to national construction.

While speaking highly of OV contributions, the Ambassador also expressed his hope that they would continue to maintain traditional customs and act as a bridge of friendship between the two countries.

He said he wished that the Vietnamese community in Thailand would make good use of economic opportunities to enrich themselves and develop the community during a time when Thailand ’s southeastern provinces were boosting cooperation in the framework of the East-West economic corridor.

Also on the occasion, the ambassador met and worked with heads of two provinces – Mukdahan and Nakhon Phanom. They reached an agreement on solutions to boost cooperation in order to further step up regional economic relations. The two provincial leaders agreed to create favourable conditions for Overseas Vietnamese to do business and integrate with local people./.
