No Vietnamese casualties have been reported after violent clashes in Ukraine , the Consular Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed.

There are about 10,000 Vietnamese nationals residing in the European country, mainly in the major cities of Kharkov , Odessa , Kiev and Donetsk according to the department.

When recent violence escalated, the foreign ministry asked the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine to keep a close watch on the situation while ensuring security and safety for the Vietnamese community in the country.

The embassy has closely coordinated with Vietnamese associations across Ukraine, asking them enhance solidarity and support each other to protect property and human lives, especially in areas where clashes take place.

It has also assigned staff to provide timely assistance to Vietnamese people, swiftly handling procedures for those who want to come back home.
