Moscow (VNA) – The Vietnamese community in Ukraine and the Buddhist sangha in Kharkov city, on April 30, organised a requiem for Vietnamese soldiers who laid down their lives to defend the national sovereignty.

At the event, both Vietnamese and Ukrainians in Kharkov offered incense to pay tribute to the martyrs.

Head of the association of Vietnamese expats in Ukraine Tran Duc Tua said the requiem is an annual activity of the association aimed at reminding younger generations of their origin and the martyrs’ noble sacrifice.

A participant of the event, Professor Valentin Yakusik from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, who has been to Vietnam, said the ceremony pays respect to not only the fallen soldiers but also Vietnam’s history.-VNA
