Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Nov. 23 received Israeli President Shimon Peres, who is on a working visit to Vietnam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang.

President Shimon Peres expressed his delight at visiting Vietnam for the first time and witnessing the great achievements Vietnamese people have recorded in the renewal process.

He spoke highly of Vietnam ’s achievements and experience in national construction and development as well as the country’s prestige and position in the region and the world.

He informed his host of Israel ’s situation and expressed his hope to further promote cooperation between the two countries in different areas, especially in science, technology, agriculture, education and training, in which Israel holds strength.

President Shimon Peres’ views were shared by General Secretary Trong. The Party leader said he believed that the Israeli President’s visit would contribute to further enhancing cooperation in economics, trade, investment, science and technology.

The same day, President Shimon Peres met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, during which the PM spoke highly of the outcomes of the talks between the Israeli President and his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang.

He expressed his belief that President Shimon Peres’ visit will create a turning-point to lift the cooperation between the two countries to a new level.

PM Dung suggested the two countries effectively implement agreements inked during the visit and soon establish the Committee for Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technological Cooperation in 2011.

He used the occasion to call on the Israeli side to support Vietnam in raising milk cow and training agricultural experts and create conditions for the two countries’ businesses to boost cooperation in investment, trade and tourism.

President Shimon Peres expressed his pleasure at the cooperation between the two countries, especially in economics, trade, science and technology, adding that his visit aims to beef up the relations, particularly in agriculture.

Israel is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in areas that are of the two countries’ strength, for the interest of the two peoples, the President said./.
