Hanoi (VNA) – Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Dinh The Huynh called for improving the efficiency of people-to-people diplomacy during a conference in Hanoi on January 18.

The conference on people-to-people diplomacy, hosted by the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, gathered nearly 300 delegates from the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organisations, and representatives from ministries, agencies and localities.

Speaking at the event, Huynh requested further strengthening collaboration among mass organisations in people-to-people diplomacy, and the coordination between people-to-people diplomacy and the Party and State diplomacy to fully tap collective power and serve national interests amid the global integration.

In people-to-people diplomacy work, it is necessary to continue improving the efficiency of external information services, he said.

Concluding the event, head of the commission Hoang Binh Quan hailed recommendations to the work this year, contributing to the common external relations of the Party and State.

On the occasion, the commission for the first time presented the insignia “For the Cause of People-to-people Diplomacy” to former Vice State President and President of the Vietnam Foundation for Peace and Development (VFPD) Nguyen Thi Binh, VFPD Vice President Trinh Ngoc Thai, Chairman of the Vietnam Committee for Asian-African-Latin American Solidarity and Cooperation Pham Van Chuong, Chairman of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association Vu Mao and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association Bui Hong Phuc.

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, Vietnam Red Cross Society and Vietnam Lawyers’ Association received emulation flags for their achievements in people-to-people diplomacy./.
