The Vietnamese and Lao women unions should introduce more practical initiatives to carry out previously agreed cooperation programmes, which will contribute to consolidating and developing the two countries’ traditional friendship and solidarity.

This was stated by Ha Thi Khiet, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation, while receiving a delegation from Laos ’ Women’s Union (LWU) led by President Sisay Leudetmounsone, in Hanoi on May 2.

Khiet said the visit, which takes place as both countries are organising the celebrations for the Vietnam-Laos Year of Friendship and Solidarity and the 35 years since the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty, indicates the special solidarity and close cooperation between the two Parties, two States and two peoples over the years.

The LWU President congratulated the Vietnamese people on their achievements made during the renewal process, national construction and defence.

She briefed Khiet about the results of cooperation between the two unions in the 2007-2010 period and the contents of their newly-signed cooperative agreement for 2012-2017 period.

She affirmed that the LWU will closely coordinate with the VWU in effectively implementing the 2012-2017 cooperative agreement, helping foster the Laos-Vietnam relationship.-VNA
