Patriotic emulation movement has been enthusiastically responded by people of all strata throughout 65 years and was an important driving force behind the country’s immense achievements in various fields.

The remarks were made by Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, during a solemn ceremony on June 9 to celebrate the 65th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s Appeal for Patriotic Emulation (June 11, 1948-2013) and the 5th anniversary of Traditional Day for Patriotic Emulation (June 11, 2008-2013).

The event saw the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, who is also President of the Central Emulation and Reward Council, and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Le Hoang Quan, among others.

In recounting the late President’s call and his launched emulation movements, Chairman Quan emphasised that patriotic emulation movement has been evolving strongly, turning out as a valuable tradition and leaving profound imprints that enriched national patriotism of the Vietnamese nation.

During the ceremony, representatives of labourers, war veterans and the youth talked about how they joined patriotic emulation movements and showed determination to make these activities more practical and efficient.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung presented emulation flag 2012 to HCM City and the “For Emulation and Reward cause” insignias to municipal leaders.-VNA
