A programme highlighting the participation of people with disabilities in arts and culture was held in the central city of Da Nang on December 3.

The programme, which aims to reduce discrimination against disabled people and help them integrate into the mainstream, was part of activities to mark the International Day for Persons with Disabilities.

It was attended by Carita Murtonen, Fida International disability expert in Southeast Asia, and Mark Rasmuson, DAI-VNAH’s Chief of Party of the UN Agency for International Development (USAID) Disability Support Programme in Da Nang.

The event also saw the involvement of over 500 members of the municipal Association of People with Disabilities who devoted to audiences a number of cultural and arts performances.

Established in 2009, the association has actively assisted disabled people via a project sponsored by the USAID to create job opportunities for local people with disabilities.-VNA
