Jakarta (VNA) – The Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) to ASEAN convened its 6th session in Manila, the Philippines, on April 26 in preparation for the 30th ASEAN Summit and related meetings slated for April 27-29.

At the meeting, the committee reviewed and completed all key reports, including its performance report and those from the ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee (ACCC) and Initiative for ASEAN Integration Task Force (IAITF).

These reports will be summited to ASEAN leaders and foreign ministers for approval.

Participants also discussed and agreed on a number of issues within their assignment scope.

They agreed to continue to mull over the implementation of recommendations and measures to boost performance of ASEAN agencies, particularly the ASEAN Secretariat; as well as a list of activities in celebration of the bloc’s 50th founding anniversary.

They included reviewing and reporting the outcomes of efforts to improve consultation mechanisms among ASEAN pillars and bodies as part of their tasks.

The committee spent time on discussing current status of and measures to strengthen ties between the bloc and its partners, particularly the dialogue ones.- VNA
