Hanoi (VNA) - Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte arrived in Myanmar’s capital Nay Pyi Taw on March 19 for an official visit to Myanmar.

President Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to hold talks with his counterpart U Htin Kyaw and meet with officials in the Myanmar Government, including State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi.

The 2-day official visit of the Philippine President takes place four years after Myanmar President U Thein Sein visited the Philippines in December, 2013.

The Philippines and Myanmar established diplomatic relations in 1956. The Philippines ranks 16th among 49 countries and territories investing in Myanmar. About 1,800 Filipinos are working in Myanmar, mostly in foreign companies and international organizations.
