The Philippines’ electronic and solar-powered equipment sales will grow by 5 percent in 2014, according to a representative of the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries of the Philippines (SEIPI).

SEIPI President Dan Lachica said the electronics and semiconductor industries will be recovered in 2014 and demand for smart phones will surpass other consumer electronics.

The president noted the country’s electronics export value reached 2.2 billion USD last October, equivalent to 42.9 percent of the total export value, an increase of 13.4 percent against the same period of 2012.

In the first ten months of 2013, the total export value of electronic products gained 17.97 billion USD, down 7.7 percent compared to the same period last year.-VNA
