Philippine President Benigno Aquino has ordered the government negotiators to make head way in peace agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) at least on the power-sharing annex, a senior official said on October 9.

The instruction was made in the context that the 41st round of peace talks between the two sides has been resumed in Malaysia .

President’s spokesperson Edwin Lacierda also said the government has had strong belief of reaching a comprehensive agreement with the largest Muslim rebel group in the country.

The power-sharing annex was among the four annexes of the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB) that were yet to be signed.

Signing four annexes of the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro would lead to establish Bangsamoro political entity to replace the existing Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

The MILF group signed the peace deal with the government since 1996. However, MILF force has so far carried out many attacks on the grounds that the government did not help region develop as it had promised.

Violence in the region has claimed the lives of 150,000 people for years.-VNA
