Two Chinese diplomats were killed in a gun attack at a local restaurant in the central Philippine city of Cebu on October 21 while the Chinese Consul General in Cebu was wounded, local and foreign media said, citing police sources.

Local police said the shooting incident occurred at a private room of the well-known Lighthouse, a favourite restaurant of many politicians.

National police spokesman Wilben Mayor confirmed in a text message that the deputy consul and a finance officer for China’s Consulate in Cebu were killed while Consul General Song Ronghua was injured and taken to hospital.

Two Chinese were arrested following the attack, a man and a woman, the woman works at the consulate, Mayor said.

The police have retrieved a semi-automatic pistol from the scene.

The case is still in further investigation.-VNA
