Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived at Kokshetau Airport in Kazakhstan at midday on May 29 and headed to the northern town of Burabai to witness the signing of a free trade agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the Eurasia Economic Union.

The FTA negotiations were launched in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi on March 28, 2013.

The pact includes clauses on rules of origin, intellectual property, customs facilitation, technical barriers to trade, and electronic commerce, among others.

The Eurasia Economic Union comprises Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, and Armenia.

The signing of this FTA illustrates Vietnam’s active role in cooperating with the Union’s member states, in particular its role in implementing the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia.-VNA
