Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met with the newly-accredited ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Myanmar in Hanoi on April 16.

Welcoming UAE Ambassador Khalid Ibrahim Abdulaziz Shohail Al-Qahtani, PM Dung suggested fostering win-win bilateral cooperation through visit exchanges and mutual support at international forums, especially the United Nations.

He called for stronger trade and investment links on the back of each side’s strengths, besides joint work in labour.

The host proposed that the UAE recognise Vietnam as a market economy soon and offer the country more official development assistance in climate change and environmental protection.

The UAE Ambassador vowed to do his best by working closely with ministries and agencies to spur UAE – Vietnam connections in economics, trade, investment, labour and energy.

At his reception for Myanmar Ambassador Uyn Lai, the government leader hailed Myanmar for its role as ASEAN Chair this year, confirming that Vietnam will help the country during its tenure.

PM Dung asked the ambassador to coordinate with the Vietnamese and Myanmar agencies concerned to realise collaborations in 12 areas agreed by both sides.

Lai, for his part, said Myanmar treasures its ties with Vietnam across a broad spectrum of areas. Vietnamese investors are always welcomed to work in the country, particularly in telecommunications, infrastructure, mining, agriculture and energy, he added.

The guest also expressed hope for Vietnam’s sharing of experience in socio-economic development and all possible support by the government to fulfil his assigned tasks.-VNA
