Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked the forces of Military Zone 9 in the Mekong Delta region to strictly maintain combat readiness during his working session with the Party Committee of Zone High Command in Can Tho city on August 23.

The working session, focusing on defence-security tasks performance, was also attended by local leaders of Mekong delta provinces and cities.

The PM lauded the efforts and achievements of Military Zone 9 in consulting and coordinating with localities to ensure national defence and security as well as social order and safety in the region.

The good performance of the unit has facilitated socio-development in the localities and the Mekong Delta region in general, PM Dung affirmed.

“Military Zone 9 should continue working closer with local governments and other agencies to actively promote synergy and meet all requirements in the new period,” he said.

Besides, he asked the unit to stand ready to help in case of flooding and other disasters, while coordinating with local agencies to ensure beneficiaries can access supporting policies of the Government.

During the past years, the Party Committee of Military Zone 9 High Command has directed armed forces of the zone and 12 provinces and cities in the region to fulfil all assigned tasks, strengthening defence and security in line with socio-economic development in the region.

They also guided the units to effectively implement the resolution on party building and the campaign of studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples, which have drawn the active engagement of collectives and individuals.

Earlier on August 22, PM Dung also worked with the Party Committee of Military Zone 7 High Command in Ho Chi Minh City.-VNA
