Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski spoke highly of Vietnam’s increasing role in the region and the world, especially the country’s fulfilment of its tasks as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and the ASEAN chair.

President Komorowski made the praise at his reception for the new Vietnamese ambassador to Poland Nguyen Hoang on August 27.

The Polish President underlined the significance of the 60 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries in 2010, adding that the two countries have a long-standing traditional relationship and enormous development potentials in every field.

He said that as next year, Poland would be chair of the European Union and Prime Minister Donald Tusk is to pay a visit to Vietnam, new opportunities will open up cooperation between the two countries.

President Komorowski also spoke highly of the Vietnamese community’s role in the development of the two countries’ relations. He affirmed that the Polish government would continue to create favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community, the fourth largest foreign community in Poland, take root in the country.

Ambassador Nguyen Hoang said that he would do his utmost to further promote the friendship and cooperative ties between the two nations./.
