Hanoi (VNA) – A recent survey has found that people in 10 selected Vietnamese provinces and cities are generally satisfied with local public administration services.

The survey was conducted from September 29 to October 13, 2015 to calculate the Satisfaction Index of Public Administration Services.

It measures people’s satisfaction with six administration services: the granting of identification cards, land use certificates, house building permits, marriage certificates, birth certificates and the certification process. Those procedures are closely related to people’s daily lives, and represent both simple and complex administration services.

The targeted localities were Hanoi; Da Nang; Ho Chi Minh City; and the provinces of Quang Ninh, Lai Chau, Hung Yen, Ha Tinh, Dak Lak, Tay Ninh and Ca Mau.

Among nearly 12,000 respondents, 72.9 percent were satisfied with ID-card-making procedures, and 63.1 percent and 69.9 percent had positive assessments of the granting of land use certificates and house building permits, respectively.

Meanwhile, certification, marriage certificate and birth certificate-granting services respectively pleased 70.4 percent, 79.9 percent and 77.8 percent of those surveyed.

The respondents also said they highly value local public servants’ capacities, but still want more enthusiasm from them while they perform their duties.

Politburo member and Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) President Nguyen Thien Nhan said on March 22 that coordination among the Ministry of Home Affairs, the VFF and the War Veterans’ Association of Vietnam in carrying out the poll was meant to enhance the results’ objectivity.

The census will be expanded to all 63 provinces and cities, and many other administration services in the time ahead, he said, adding that authorities at all levels must consider the public’s satisfaction as an important criterion for administrative reforms.-VNA
