State President Truong Tan Sang arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia on April 21, starting his three-day visit for the 2015 Asian-African Conference, also known as the Bandung Conference.

He is due to attend the 60th anniversary celebration of the Asian-African Conference and the 10 th anniversary of the New Strategic Asian-African Partnership at the invitation of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

The first Asian-African Conference was held in Bandung city, Indonesia from April 18-24, 1955 where leaders from 29 Asian and African countries issued 10 principles that laid a solid foundation for relationship among nations from the two continents, including respect to national sovereignty and international law, peaceful settlement of disputes, and promotion of cooperation, among others.

Themed “Strengthening South-South Cooperation to Promote World Peace and Prosperity”, this year’s event expects to adopt three documents, namely the Bandung Message 2015, the Declaration to reactivate the New Asia-Africa Strategic Partnership and the Palestine Declaration.

Together with heads of state from 109 Asian and African countries and representatives of 25 international organisations, the Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to attend plenary sessions, bilateral meetings, a procession and inauguration of Asia – Africa memorial in Bandung city.-VNA
