Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang has sent his greetings to the upcoming 38th General Assembly of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-38), which will take place in Manila, Philippines, from September 14 to 20.

In the message addressed to Pantaleon Alvarez, Speaker of the Philippine House of Representatives and current AIPA President, the Vietnamese President said Vietnam highly appreciates the AIPA-38’s theme of “ASEAN and AIPA: Partnering for Inclusive Change”.

The theme reflects an important development and the wish for new vitality for both ASEAN and AIPA, toward a better future across the Southeast Asian region and in each bloc member.

“I believe that AIPA, as a regional legislative organisation with four decades of experience, will continue to reform itself and optimize its role in connecting law-making bodies in the region and strengthening its coordination with ASEAN toward effectiveness and practical benefits for people in Southeast Asia,” Quang wrote in the message.

The President stated that the Vietnam National Assembly has been, and will join AIPA’s activities with an active and responsible attitude in contribution to a stable and sustainable ASEAN Community.

He also expressed his belief in the success of the 38th AIPA General Assembly thanks to the careful preparation of the Philippine parliament and close cooperation of participating delegations.-VNA
