“The government and people should listen to each other with more attention, with respect for the law, trust and constructive attitudes,” said State President Nguyen Minh Triet.

The President on June 23 had a meeting with voters in Districts 1 and 2 of Ho Chi Minh City to inform them the success of the recent fifth session of the 12th National Assembly.

He expressed thanks to the voters for their wholehearted opinions contributed to the city’s delegation of NA deputies as well as to the NA session.

According to him, HCM City ’s voters asked 245 questions relating to issues of concern. Of those, 34 were raised by the city’s NA deputies themselves at the NA session, and 17 have been answered in papers by relevant ministries and agencies.

He said the HCM City delegation of NA deputies had a working session with the city’s authorities to deal with outstanding issues. He urged local authorities to promptly provide voters with information about the concrete steps they will take to resolve each issue.

Regarding voters’ concerns about the exploitation of bauxite in the Central Highlands, and improvement of the capacity of military forces in defending islands and sea territory, the President said these issues have been subject to careful consideration, and there is a high degree of unanimity on their long-term importance among Party, State, National Assembly and Government.

“That voters express their concerns with a view towards sharing the burden of responsibility, and above all, greater national solidarity, is an important factor to ensure the country’s power and the nation’s prosperity,” he stressed./.
