A naval ship has carried reporters and officers of the Navy Command Zone 3 to the island districts of Con Co and Ly Son in the central provinces of Quang Tri and Quang Ngai to distribute Tet gifts to local people and soldiers stationed on the islands.

In Con Co district, Quang Tri province, the delegation paid floral tribute at the Con Co Martyr Memorial, which is dedicated to 103 soldiers and officers who laid down their lives during the American war.

They delivered Tet gifts to soldiers, policemen and local people in the district.

Le Quang Lanh, Secretary of the Con Co district Party Committee, told the guests that the local administration has stocked a broad range of food to prepare for the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

For their part, military units have planned duty timetables to ensure their staff can enjoy a cosy Tet, the country’s biggest festive season, when they are not on duty.

In Ly Son district, the officers and reporters toured administrative units and brought gifts to the staff working at the Ly Son Radar Station.

According to Colonel Bui Van Tam, Deputy Political Commissar of the Navy Command Zone 3, the Command has organized regular visits to soldiers and local people in the districts to encourage them to remain strong in protecting the country’s sea and island sovereignty.

During these pre-Tet visits, which ran from January 9-12, the naval officers also inspected the combat readiness of military units and local people in the two outpost districts.-VNA
