Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang paid a working visit to Israel from November 7-9 at the invitation of his Israeli counterpart Yitzhak Aharonovich.

During his stay, the Vietnamese official paid a courtesy visit to President Reuven Rivlin, who described the visit as a contribution to fostering the friendship and cooperation between the two countries in general and the two ministries in particular.

President Reuven Rivlin said he admires Vietnam’s struggle for national independence in the past as well as its current national construction and defence.

Minister Quang thanked President Reuven Rivlin for facilitating collaboration between the Vietnamese ministry and Israeli law enforcement agencies in combating crime and ensuring security in the respective countries.

He expressed his pleasure at the two countries’ growing affiliation in various fields from politics-diplomacy, trade and investment to agriculture, education-training, and defence, especially since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties in 1993.

At a separate meeting between Quang and Israeli Minister of Defence Moshe Ya’alon, both agreed on measures to bolster cooperation in security and civil defence based on the signed memoranda of understanding on secret information protection, and industrial and technological cooperation in domestic security.

During talks with his Israeli counterpart Yitzhak Aharonovich, Minister Quang appreciated the host’s official visit to Vietnam last February, which he said opened up new development in the two ministries’ cooperation in fighting crime.

Both sides discussed measures to increase information and experience exchanges and coordination in cracking down on cross-border, organised, high-tech and drug crimes, human trafficking and those involved in the two countries’ citizens.

They also underlined collaboration in ensuring security for trade, investment and tourism activities as well as the legitimate rights and interests of citizens.

The two ministers agreed to promote negotiations on the signing of agreements on criminal extradition and transfer of sentenced persons.-VNA
