The central province of Quang Binh on August 17 began a charity campaign aiming to build 197 houses at a total cost of 5.6 billion VND (266,000 USD) for low-income and disaster-hit households in 2014.

The first phase, to be conducted from now to November, will see the building of 130 houses, and the second phase will start in early September.

Construction costs will be mainly funded by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The activity is expected to help local people improve their living conditions, thus promoting production and escaping from poverty.-VNA
