An exhibition showcasing thousands of ancient manuscripts and digitised versions of old documents in Han (Chinese script) and Nom (Vietnamese ideographic script) has opened at the provincial library of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

The documents were issued during the Le (1428-1788), Tay Son (1778-1802) and Nguyen (1802-1945) dynasties.

Family trees, records of village conventions, royal decrees, medicine books and exam papers all feature in the exhibit.

The show highlights some of the 105,000 documents in Han and Nom scripts that have been collected by the provincial library of Thua Thien-Hue and Ho Chi Minh City 's General Science Library over the past five years.

The exhibition runs until June 19.-VNA
