A repatriation ceremony of the remains of US servicemen who died during the war in Vietnam was held on December 6 at Da Nang International Airport.

Attending the event for the Vietnamese side were representatives from the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Personnel, while the US were representatives from the US Embassy in Hanoi, the Office of Defence Attaché, the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command and the US MIA Office in Hanoi.

The Vietnamese representative handed over to the US side one box of remains which were collected by Vietnamese people during the 113 rd Joint Field Activities from October to December 2013.

The remains had been jointly reviewed by Vietnam and US forensic specialists and are believed to be associated with US servicemen who went missing during the war in Vietnam. They will be taken to Hawaii for further review.

Addressing at the ceremony, the US Government Representative expressed deep gratitude for the steadfast humanitarian policy, good-will and the increasingly efficient cooperation of the Vietnam Government and people.

The seeking of the remains of US servicemen is a humanitarian cooperation between the Vietnam Government and the US Government. This is the 129 th hand-over of remains since 197.-VNA
