Reservoir projects granted approval
The Prime Minister has approved the plans to build Dong Mit reservoir in the central province of Binh Dinh and Canh Tang reservoir in the northern province of Hoa Binh.
Current residential area will be zoned off for the construction of Dong Mit reservoir (Photo: baotainguyenmoitruong.vn)Hanoi (VNA) – The Prime Minister has approved the plans to build Dong Mit reservoir in the central province of Binh Dinh and Canh Tang reservoir in the northern province of Hoa Binh.
The Dong Mit reservoir has designed capacity of 89.8 million cubic metres and an estimated investment of nearly 2.14 trillion VND (94.1 million USD). It is built to store water for socio-economic development and improve the local ecosystem and the environment Binh Dinh’s four districts of An Lao, Hoai An, Hoai Nhon and Phu My.
The construction of the reservoir is expected to be completed in 2021.
Meanwhile, Canh Tang reservoir will be constructed during 2017-2020 with total investment of over 3.1 trillion VND (over 136 million USD).
The 93 million cubic-metre reservoir will provide water for about 6,460 hectares of farm land in 17 communes in Hoa Binh’s Lac Son and Yen Thuy districts as well as Lac Thinh industrial zone in Yen Thuy district. The reservoir will also help with the restructuring of local agriculture and the living conditions of people in Yen Thuy and Lac Son districts, and Thanh Hoa province’s Thach Thanh district.-VNA
