Six enterprises of the Republic of Korea (RoK) investing in Vietnam were honoured at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on December 4 for their outstanding performance in corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The CSR award, the third of its kind, was launched by the Commercial Affair Office under the RoK Consulate General.

The awardees include the Hansae Group and Hwaseung Vina Co., Ltd, which have been recognised as the most excellent firms for CSR activities. They also received certificates of merit from the Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment and the RoK Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The others are the Eland JSC, Hyun Dae Chemical Co, Posco Co., Ltd and CJ Group, which have received certificates of merit from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the RoK Embassy in Vietnam.

Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Van Trung said Vietnam commits to accompanying RoK enterprises in economic development, environmental protection and sustainable growth in general.

Presently, nearly 2,800 RoK enterprises have invested in over 3,800 projects in Vietnam with a total capital exceeding 28 billion USD, elevating the RoK to the third place among over 100 countries and territories investing in the Southeast Asian country.-VNA
