60 disadvantaged children suffering from congenital heart defects will fly to the Republic of Korea (RoK) for free heart surgery assisted by Sunny Korea – from the RoK.

This is part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Vietnam Children’s Fund and Sunny Korea, a non-governmental organisation that operates in the fields of healthcare and education.

Under the MoU, the organisation will donate 720,000 USD to support the children for a three-year period, starting from 2010.

Earlier, the organisation helped four paediatric heart patients to fly from the northern province of Hai Duong and central provinces of Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh to RoK for surgery.

Since 2002, the organisation has provided surgery at a total cost of almost 1.1 million USD for 110 Vietnamese children, born with heart disease through the Vietnam Children’s Fund./.
