On May 9 this year, nearly 14 million people in Russia took part in various activities across the country to celebrate the Victory over Fascism.

Russia held a grand parade and march at the Red Square in Moscow. That was the ever biggest parade with the participation of nearly 20,000 officers and soldiers as well as 106 kinds of weapons and military equipment in the presence of President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

Major cities in Russia also held parades, art performances and fireworks displays to mark the day.

At 19p.m., all Russian people spent one minutes to pay homage to 26.6 million, including 8,660,400 Red soldiers, who scarified their lives to defend the Soviet Union during the great struggle for national defence.

A delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany on May 9 paid a floral tribute to the former Soviet Union’s Red Soldiers at the Monument in the Treptower Park in Berlin .

This has become an annual activity of the Embassy in recent years to celebrate the Victory over Fascism.

On May 9 every year, the monument dedicated to Red Soldiers who sacrificed their lives to free Germany and the world from Fascism receives thousands of visitors./.
