An assembly was held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 6 to mark the 95 th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution (November 7).

Chairman of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association in the city Nguyen Huu Thanh reviewed the historical significance of the event.

The revolution laid a foundation for friendly relations between Vietnam and Russia, he added.

Both sides are striving to raise annual bilateral trade to 5 billion USD by 2015 and 15 billion USD by 2020. At the local level, HCM City is developing ties with Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Sverdlovsk .

Anatoly Vassilievich Borovik, Russian Consul General in HCM City , said leaders of the two countries hold regular visits and exchanges to promote their relations. With more and more Russian tourists visiting HCM City and southern provinces, two-way trade is on the rise, he added.-VNA
