Binh Dinh (VNA) – Nearly 80 professors, scientists and researchers from 17 countries gathered at an international conference themed “Star formation in different environments” that opened at the International Centre of Interdisciplinary Science Education (ICISE) in Quy Nhon city, the central province of Binh Dinh, on August 7.

As part of activities of the 13th “Rencontres du Vietnam” (Meet Vietnam) science programme, the event also drew the participation of 30 Vietnamese students who love science from universities across the country.

The conference, to last until August 12, is jointly held by the Meet Vietnam Association, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Binh Dinh province People’s Committee.

The conference will highlight the recent advances in wide-field and high resolution surveys and detail numerical simulations of star formation in different environments, from individual star to galaxy systems. The idea is to search for a universal picture of star formation across all scales and also identify the characteristics of each individual scale.

The goal of the conference is to share the different views from different research communities by balancing contributions from different categories and to encourage collaborations between researchers across the globe.

Prof. Tran Thanh Van, head of the conference’s organisation board and Chairman of the Meet Vietnam Association, said the event offers an opportunity for domestic and international scientists to exchange.

In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the Binh Dinh province People’s Committee Tran Chau said the 13th “Meet Vietnam” programme is expected to help promote research, innovation, exploration and invention activities in Vietnam.

He added that the ongoing science space complex project promises to be an attractive rendezvous for science lovers. -VNA
