Vietnamese swimmers bagged three silvers on December 13 at the ongoing 27th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Myanmar .

Swimmer Hoang Quy Phuoc fell short of expectation and earned only silver in the men’s 100m individual freestyle, while his teammate Tran Duy Khoi was behind his Singaporean competitor in the men’s 200 individual medley.

The 17-year-old swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien scooped the medal in the female’s 400m individual freestyle. Her time, however, did not match her performance during training.

Earlier on December 12, Vien broke the SEA Games record in the women’s 200m backstroke in 2 minutes and 14.80 seconds.

Vietnamese swimmers will compete until December 16, and hope for more gold is pinned on Phuoc and Vien.

At the end of December 13, Vietnam continued to rank second in the medal tally with 22 golds, 13 silvers, and 19 bronzes, after the host Myanmar with 26 golds, 25 silvers, and 21 bronzes. Indonesia came third with 21 gold medals.-VNA
