Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Vietnamese wushu artist Duong Thuy Vi won another gold medal at the ongoing 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games on August 21, raising the number of gold medals held by Vietnam to five.

Vi earned her victory in the women’s quiangshu event with 9.67 points. It is her second gold medal at the regional sport event.

[SEA Games 29: Wushu artists bring home first two golds]

The Vietnamese wushu team with five male and seven female artists aim for two gold and five silver medals at the largest regional sport event.

Vietnam sent more than 470 athletes to the SEA Games 29 in Malaysia from August 19-30. They are scheduled to complete in 32 out of 38 sports with more than 6,000 rivals from 10 other countries in the region.

The country is set to grab 49-59 gold medals to rank in the top three.

At the previous games in Singapore in 2015, Vietnam finished third with 73 golds. Thailand and the hosts secured first and second positions, with 95 and 84 gold medals, respectively.-VNA
