Vietnam added three more gold to its medal tally on December 13 at the ongoing 27th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 27) in Myanmar .

Karate artist Nguyen Hoang Ngan grabbed a gold medal after an overwhelming victory over Syafrudin Yulianti of Indonesia in the final of the women’s singles kata event.

This is the fifth gold medal she has won at the region’s biggest sport events throughout her career. Ngan claimed three kata single title in 2003, 2007 and 2009, and one kata team title in 2009.

She had to withdraw from competition for three years due to a knee injury, and underwent an operation last December .

Ngan’s victory at the 27 th SEA Games testifies to her great efforts over the past year .

Meanwhile, Vu Thi Hang beat Sriprapa of Thailand 7-0 to bring home another gold medal in women’s wrestling at 48 kg.

In the 74kg men’s wrestling final, Can Tat Du overcame an injury earlier to record a 7-0 win over a Thai wrestler.

His gold medal is the 10th gold medal of the Vietnamese wrestling team at this tournament, not to mention two bronzes.-VNA
