The British Council in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and Training held a seminar, themed “Internationalise education – Improve English learning capacity”, on May 29 in Hanoi.

The event aimed to raise people’s awareness of the importance of English in educational internationalisation, as well as support Vietnam ’s universities and colleges in improving English teaching capacity.

Addressing the seminar, Kate Harrisson, Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Vietnam , said the event contributed to consolidating long-term cooperative relations among the British Council, the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs. She said educational cooperation was one of seven areas in the Vietnam-UK Strategic Partnership Agreement signed in 2010, under which the UK pledges to help Vietnam improve the capacity and standard of universities and colleges in Vietnam .

Also at the seminar, the British Council announced the results of comprehensive English tests at Thai Nguyen University and Hai Phong Vocational College, which were implemented by the British Council and the Centre for Research in English Language Learning and Assessment under the UK University of Bedfordshire.-VNA
