Hanoi (VNA) – A seminar entitled “International Day of Solidarity with Venezuela” was held in Hanoi on April 19, featuring Vietnam – Venezuela friendship and solidarity.

The event marked the 10 th year anniversary of late President Hugo Chavez’s visit to Vietnam (August 2006) and the establishment of the Venezuela embassy in Vietnam (January 2006).

Addressing the event, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Vietnam – Venezuela Friendship Association Nguyen Viet Thao said the two peoples stood closer in the fight against imperialists for national independence and prosperity in the past.

The Venezuelan government and people have assisted Vietnam in many socio-economic development projects, and the two sides have supported each other in international forums, he added.

Venezuelan Ambassador to Vietnam Jorge Rondon Uzcategui recalled that the presence of the Venezuela embassy in Hanoi in January 2006 was a preparation for Chavez’s visit, during which the two sides committed to must-do steps to forge long-term cooperation across the board.

On the occasion, participants watched a video clip featuring Chavez’s visit to Vietnam a decade ago.
