Hanoi (VNA) – Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, met with officers of Laos’s border guard force and Bangladesh’s national defence college on October 4, aiming to enhance defence cooperation.

Syphane Phuththavong, head of Laos’s border defence force, informed Tuan his earlier working session with Vietnam’s Border Guard High Command. The two sides reviewed recent cooperation and worked out a future cooperation plan.

Sen. Lt. Gen. Tuan said leaders of the Defence Ministry and the General Staff of Vietnam will continue providing favourable conditions for effective cooperation between both sides, serving defence-security activities in each country.

The same day, he met with a delegation of Bangladesh’s national defence college.

Tuan said though defence cooperation between the two countries has developed, it has yet to meet potential.

Leaders of Vietnam’s Defence Ministry and General Staff want the two sides’ military units to increase cooperation, exchanges and experience sharing to enhance mutual understanding, he noted.

He voiced his hope that the two armies will have closer and more effective collaboration in personnel training and sharing experience in joining UN peacekeeping operations.-VNA
