– At least seven students have been killed and 14 others missing as a flash flood struck Deli Serdang district in North Sumatra province, west Indonesia on May 15 afternoon.

The disaster occurred when 21 students were visiting a waterfall in Durin Sirugun village, local authority said.

Seven bodies were recovered three kilometres from the waterfall the following day, while about 150 people including soldiers, police, rescuers and volunteers are still searching for the others missing.

Indonesia is prone to floods and landslides during the rainy season, affecting millions of people.-VNA
