Singapore (VNA) – President Tony Tan announced Singapore’s Climate Action Plan at the opening ceremony of the 2016 World Cities Summit held on July 10 in the country.

The plan includes two documents comprising strategies to reduce the greenhouse effect and prepare for the impacts of climate change.

The first document of the plan looks at how to improve energy efficiency and cut the country’s carbon emissions.

The second booklet details a strategy to prepare for the impacts of climate change.
The action plan forms part of Singapore’s Sustainable Development Blueprint, which targets to raise the recycling rate to 70 percent and improve the energy efficiency rate to 35 percent by 2030.

Singapore signed the Paris Agreement on climate change in April, and aims to reduce its emissions by 36 percent from 2005 levels by 2030.-VNA
