Singapore (VNA) – Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong began a four-day Israel visit on April 18, making him the first Prime Minister of Singapore to make trip to Israel since 1965.

In his speech at the Hebrew university in the host country, Lee underscored military support from Israel for Singapore in many years.

He called for resuming peace talks between Israel and Palestine.

Lee Hsien Loong is scheduled to meet his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, before travelling to Ramallah to meet with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah.

Singapore and Israel established diplomatic relations in 1969. In 2015, their bilateral trade generated 1.35 billion USD.-VNA
