Pretoria (VNA) – Gwede Mantashe, General Secretary of the African National Congress (ANC) Party, the ruling party in South Africa, extended his congratulations to the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s Central Committee on the occasion of the 12th National Congress slated for January 20-28.

In his message, which was relayed through the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa on January 14, Gwede Mantashe wrote the ANC’s Central Committee sent the warmest congratulations to the CPV’s Central Committee and CPV members as their 12th National Party Congress is coming.

The ANC believes that the long-standing relations between two parties will be tightened in the future, he said.

The ANC wishes the CPV would gain further achievements in the process of building a more prosperous Vietnam, he concluded.

Earlier, General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP) Blade Nzimande cabled his greetings to Vietnam over the upcoming Congress.

Vietnam, South Africa established diplomatic relations in 1993. Two-way bilateral trade ties have developed strongly over the past few years with trade turnover jumping to a record of 962 million USD in 2014.-VNA
