Hanoi (VNA) – A delegation of the Sri Lanka-Vietnam Solidarity Association (SVSA) is paying a week-long working visit to Vietnam from May 24 to boost mutual understanding between the two countries.

The delegation is headed by SVSA Executive Committee member Venerable Baddegama Samitha Thero, who is a member of the Southern Provincial Council and a Politburo member of the Lanka Sama Samaja party.

At a reception on May 25 for the Sri Lankan guests, Bui Khac Son, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), hailed the delegation’s visit as a contribution to the friendship between Vietnam and Sri Lanka.

Son informed the delegation of Vietnam’s external policies as well as the role of people-to-people exchanges in the country’s construction and defence cause. He appreciated the SVSA’s support for Vietnam’s resistance war as well as in its reconstruction.

He also recommended the SVSA and the Vietnam-Sri Lanka Friendship Association continue coordinating in organising friendship activities and working as a bridge for partnerships in the fields of economy, science-technology, education and tourism.

For his part, Venerable Baddegama Samitha Thero hoped the two sides continue sharing information and experience to create many meaningful activities to boost understanding and promote cooperation between the two countries and their people.-VNA
