President Truong Tan Sang bade farewell to the outgoing Greek Ambassador to Vietnam, Rose Ieremia, in Hanoi on November 13.

The President praised the ambassador's five-year mission, affirming the country’s great attention to accelerating its cooperation with Greece in trade, economy, and cultural heritage conservation.

He hoped Greece will support the country in speeding up the Vietnam- Europe Union Free Trade Agreement negotiations, which, once completed, will pave the way for the economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Greece and the EU to flourish.

On the occasion, the President held out hope that bilateral contacts and exchanges between the two countries and at regional and international forums will be stepped up.

The Greek diplomat highly spoke of strengthened relations between Vietnam and Greece over recent years, which were evidenced by Vietnam’s opening of its embassy in Athena in 2012, the establishment of a friendship parliamentarian group, and ship-building cooperation.

She said Greece will participate in the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Vietnam in 2015.-VNA
